Linkedin Re-Launches Groups Feature

by Teresa Valdez Klein on September 25, 2007

ingroup.gifAfter a long (!) hiatus, Linkedin has re-launched their groups feature. An excerpt from an e-mail I received this morning:

We are proud to announce that the LinkedIn Groups section of the site is back up and running at full functionality. You are now able to create your group and/or make any necessary edits to your existing groups. To access this section of the site please click on the link below. We thank you for your patience during this time of improvement and we look forward to serving all of your groups needs.

Many of the most recent groups in the system are from as far back as 2004. I signed up for the e-mail list several months ago when we were still in hardcore marketing mode for the Blog Business Summit 2007. This raises a serious issue for Linkedin. How can they compete with Facebook as a professional networking tool when their group creation interface isn’t available for months?
