Facebook may announce Beacon changes as soon as…today?

by Jason Preston on November 29, 2007

According to BusinessWeek, BloggingStocks, and AllFacebook, Facebook execs are busy scratching their heads, going “I don’t get it? People don’t like a service that tricks them into being advertising drones?”

If you’ve been watching the blogosphere buzz around Beacon the past few weeks, and I assure you that the Facebook team has, you could only conclude that the reception has been…pretty dismal. I assumed that Facebook would do what worked before (with the newsfeed) and just ignore people until they shut up.

It appears that I was wrong. And I’m glad.

Because there are very few companies who can get away with screwing their customers. Most of them nowadays are hardware companies, because consumers still don’t have many alternatives.

BusinessWeek thinks that Facebook may be ready to announce changes as soon as today. We’ll keep our ears peeled and eye out. Or is it ear out and eyes peeled?
