More info on Facebook disabled accounts
I’m stealing a really useful link from Scoble this morning, I’d like to point everyone to this list of 13 ways you can get your Facebook account disabled:
1. You didn’t use your real name
Don’t try to use a nickname (or initials)in lieu of the name on your birth certificate, because Facebook will find you and spit you out.2. You joined too many groups
Remember that the maximum limit is 200 groups per user. More than that just looks desperate, don’t you think?
People are understandably worried about disabled accounts, although as I’ve heard most disabled accounts end up being recovered. Still - it’s like filing your taxes: try not to raise too many red flags.

my account was disabled, and all i did was take part in one of their applications. which is ironic as they provide the application which requires us to add many friends, which i did (i added 20 friends in 1 hour) and they disabled me thinking i was a spammer.
this i blame fully on facebook. why allow an application to be installed by your users only to disable ppl for using it?
weird!
i am frustrated and i dont think its fair as i was using a FB application . If tht application was going to create problems, then dont let us download it!
ridiculous
My account was disabled with no reason and notice.
They can’t tell from spammer to private user..
I was searching my friends and they said I was working too fast?!
That’s really not making sense as the whole point is finding your friends..
My Facebook account was apparently disabled because I was sending harassing messages or spam.
Well, Pete: I DIDN’T HARRASS OR SPAM ANYONE
AND NO I DON’T UNDERSTAND…WHY THE F**K DO YOU WRITE “THANKS FOR UNDERSTANDING”? WHEN I DON’T F**KIN’ UNDERSTAND WHAT THE F**K I DID TO GET DISABLED.

I have had my account disabled by facebook and i cant get a reason why ? The only reason i can think of is when i use my mobile phone on facebook and write on peoples walls or message with them my message goes in a few times even though i only put it in once this is not my fault surely they can see this. Can anyone give me any advice about how to get my account open again please
@Natalie - as I understand it your best bet is to just send Facebook support an e-mail, wait for their response, be really nice, and try to prove that you’re a real human.
I got disabled for misuse as they call it. If you use FB from your blackberry or iphone u can do many things (pokes, friends, messages) faster.
Do they know that? I told them. Did they understand? Nop. They blocked me 3 more times then they disabled my profile.
Guys lets move to another site. we have the power. not FB.
well i have another user in facebook which is me but they blocked my alter ego which is sexually into bear men!
i joined groups, yes.i post messages on groups wall every week to find a intimate friend! (i can think this is the reason why they disabled me,thinking im a spammer)
but i mean, they should have send a notice,a warning,no they shut it down just like that!!
i had important contacts and groups i need to get a hold of!
this is so sick!
Well i heard Facebook was suspending accounts etc for all sorts of reasons….mostly as in my case with no warning…. security given as a reason for not telling me why? Then after i sent an email to support to ask why and wot suspension actually means i was disabled? So far after 5-6hrs still no reply…. to questions asked in a clear polite manner and wot i can do 2 rectify any issues? U would think with a huge investment 2 look after they could just simply reply to customer client Questions in a polite and prompt manner?
my facebook account got disabled because they say that i was sending too many messages but i wasn’t sending any messages. Someone tried to misuse my account and i got in trouble. Give me a solution.

Your account has been disabled by an administrator. I’ve written to them but they don’t respond. What kind of a system is this?
My account has been canceled and i use facebook for my company i send msjs to clients and take orders and put out orders .. if facebook does not reactivate my account me and my family will go bancrupt in a few days and i will be hit by tons of lawsuites…
I have always been a paragon member of facebook. I had never been warned and have never posted anything offensive or inapropriate. I am a tolerant New york Jewish agnostic ( yes, that is irrelevant). I have used facebook to communicate with friends, girlfriends, and to do academic projects with partners. In my inbox, alot of invaluable material is present, such as the first letters I had sent to my highschool sweetheart. One night at around 2 am, I was up late over spring break and created a political group. Although this is controversial amongst the majority of facebook users, which I respect and understand it was called “One million strong for John McCain” ( I am actually a liberal moderate who just happens to support him). I live in a hardcore liberal community, so attempting to aquire membership from my native population would be socially retarted and would invoke offense. I went onto only groups with a similary agenda ( all conservative). I posted two links for my facebook group per each group I went on. Of course, I never sat down and read the entire terms of use ( who in god’s name does), so when my first warning came up ( which did not specify how many posts must occur before a block was triggered) I continued posting simply because it seems facebook was relativley lenient and I was innocently advertising a facebook group without focus towards a singular wall and only focusing distribution towards groups with a similar agenda. I wrote nothing offensive, just simply posted a link. I wasn’t scared of the block and thought it was worth it, being that facebook impressed such lienency and seemingly didn’t have a conservative attitude about it. I hit the block, and none of my posts were deleted. I had posted in total around 15 times in various different groups. Obviously it seemed to have been worth it, and because I was doing nothing obscene or degrading it seemed everything would be okay. Literally two minutes later the block was lifted. I went onto a different group and posted once. A similar warning came up. I posted again, and my profile was immediatley disabled. Two more times qualified for my profile being disabled. I understood this, and wasn’t distraught at first expecting it to eventually come back. I hadn’t been doing anything obscene or offensive. My posts would be swallowed up on progressive walls and really had no impact on the many groups I had dilluted them with. I know people that literally have blatant pictures and albums of them engaging in underage drinking and hitting bongs while having like fucking group sex. Never once has their been a single reprecussion. Although I do not condemn underage drinking, it is still considered illegal by our judicial system and I find it inconsistent for facebook to be so conservative with censorship as to permanently disable my account after I sent two posts after a block was lifted and then so liberal and open minded with censorship with illegal photos ( which in nature, are on a worse wavelength then what I was doing). I am familar with people who have invited me along with seventy people to a political group supporting barrack obama. I posted seventeen times and I am under the impression that facebook without hesitation, permanently deleted my account. After five days of sending polite inquiries to facebook, they have remained un-responsive. Letters that I consider invaluable material and my own property were on that site. Letters that literally told the story of a few important intimacies I’ve had with people. Because I don’t expect the world to end tommorow I had never printed them out. Facebook has consistently been un-responsive to polite inquiries I have sent to them for about five days. Two mundane posts being equi to permanent expulsion from facebook is quite a feat of censorship in relation to the constant barrage of illegal photos and excess group invitations I see disregarded. I actually feel like the administrator who disabled me exercised political discrimination in doing so. Which pissed me off so much, that I constantly fantasize about suing facebook, which is constantly plagued by the reality that such an event has quite an alienable probability. They sure as hell have caused immeasurable inconvience and I rationally feel discriminated against.
everything I’m saying about suing and discrimination is meant to be in an exxagerated context. I’m just very worried about important content of mine being permanently deleted, and because this experience has induced enlightement, I am now educated to where I will abide to posting limitations and will never again exceed them.
the reason u got disabled is becouse of your language brilliant
did you get your account back yet?
FB is shit. They are rude. My FB account got disabled, so i went back to MySpace. I’ve never had such stupid problems there, and MS customer service is MUCH better.
Screw you Facebook!
I disabled my messages and now I would like to send some to my friends. Could you please look into this matter . Thank you Rosemary
I got disabled from being under 13 when my birthday reads June 7, 1993 meaning im 14 =|
yes, thanks tom and brenden. My account was re-activated but will have to endure an unlimited probation. Hope all is well with both of yours. Take care guys.
Hopefully my story will help others avoid a bad experience. My account was “disabled” when I was simply searching for the phrase “mountain biking” within my network. There was a brief message just before it logged me off. It said something about “running into a block” and to slow down. Not speaking the secret Facebook lingo, I didn’t know what they were trying to say (what’s a block?). If it was important, why didn’t they just use normal English to explain the situation? Duh!
Well, I indeed slowed down my searches for the next minute or two. But then it quickly logged me off anyway and disabled my account. I scrutinized the terms of the User Agreement and found absolutely no mention of restrictions on the Search feature. They claim that by simply running a search I was guilty of abusing or harassing other Facebook users. This is a false claim, of course.
So far they have ignored my requests to “undisable” it. This is unfortunate since I had several outstanding friend requests to very important people in my life. Now they’ve probably gotten confused and thought I’m a flake.
I think what happened to me (and others) results from the fact that Facebook’s search never worked properly anyway (unlike all other sites). This is because it inserts an increasingly high percentage of redundant results (ie, profiles keep showing up again and again in the search results). After a few screens you reach a point of diminishing returns where perhaps one of ten results per page are “new” - the rest were displayed already on previous screens. This causes a user to hit the next button even faster hoping to see new results. After a few minutes an administrator detects this activity and destroys their account.
I’ve never heard of this happening on another site. This behavior on the part of the Facebook Team seems quite unprofessional (even anti-social), like so many other aspects of their site. Hopefully over time the Facebook Team will outgrow their naivete and get their act together. Unfortunately for them this may require a lot of bad press and a class action suit or two.
I too had my FB account disabled on Friday/Saturday. I had been challenged by friends in the Bubble Game, I had taken my turn on all five challenges, went out shopping and returned to take my next turns to find the usual message “Your account has been disabled by an administrator. If you have any questions or concerns, you can visit our FAQ page here”. What went wrong? I have sent an email and got the response that someone from FB would be in touch (they haven’e yet). I can’t believe that I have been wiped cleaned from my Husband’s FB and all my friends. It doesn’t look good for my character. I have two Grandchildren what will they think their Nannie’s been up to??
My Facebook was disabled sometime between last night and this afternoon. I don’t spam, and I don’t add random people. The weird thing is that after I got an email saying that I had been disabled, I got one saying that one of my Notes (which contained a link to a Youtube video friends and I had made, which wasn’t obscene or vulgar at all) had been removed. It was a warning, as if my account hadn’t been disabled at all!
I am in the process of appealing to Facebook, but this is really annoying because I had a lot of things on that account that I can’t get back. Good God.
These are the Facebook phone numbers I found. I’m going to try and call tomorrow:
6505434811 and 4154672300
Update: my account was finally re-enabled after around five days. I had to write a series of emails appealing my case. I wrote to several addresses including disabled@facebook.com and I think appeals@facebook.com. They refused to say specifically why they disabled me other than I was searching too fast. They refused to say how fast was “too fast”. They also said my account would be permanently deleted if it happened again. So am I supposed to not search from now on? Too bad 95% of the search results are redundant. So the search is practically useless, anyway. I’ve been using my old MySpace account lately and they’ve made some really nice improvements. Facebook is clearly not intent on making even basic improvements so they’ll fade away like so many other promising sites of the past.
Facebook is run by a precocious child and the investment money behind them is quietly trying to get the little brat removed and a stable, mature individual in his place.
The way they choose to act toward their supporters is ignorant, childish and reeks of severe emotional trouble.
Another one bites the dust…they are ripe for the taking.
Advice for the very immature zuckerman - take what you can get now before you totally devalue this company with your childish antics.
