How and Why to Reduce Your Number of Facebook Groups

by Teresa Valdez Klein on August 29, 2007

One major gripe about Facebook is that groups are easy to join, but they don’t really stay at the forefront of your attention stream. I think this is because originally, students didn’t use the groups as major community building tools. Instead, they were about private jokes and campaigns for class president. They weren’t designed for long term use.

As Facebook opens up to the wider world, they’re going to have to evolve the groups feature into a more robust community engagement tool. But in the meantime, it’s important to know how and why to cull your list of groups back to a number that you can reasonably engage with on a regular basis.

I made a video talking about how and why to cull through Facebook groups. It’s not revolutionary, but it also won’t take up very much of your time. See you after the jump.
