Since you are all reading Brian Solis already, there's really no reason for me to point you to his gigantic(ly awesome) post from a few days ago about titled Social Media is About Sociology Not Technology.
He hits on some very key points. My Favorite one-liner is this:
Transparent and genuine ...

Our friend and event co-founder Nick O'Neill has just announced his plans to run a weekly Facebook and community oriented video show:
We are going to begin making a once a week show that discusses everything related to Facebook, social networks and social news.
It sounds like juicy stuff. However, in the ...

In our Facebook group the other day I commented about the clunkiness of Facebook's messaging system and, in addition, how the time-lag in e-mail notifications tends to screw me up more often than it helps me out.
So I decided to go in and turn off my e-mail notifications. On ...

The top search result in Google for the term "facebook tutorial" is a video that came out when Facebook first launched its News Feed. In it, a guy jokes about how the News Feed makes his hobby of stalking girls on Facebook so much easier.
I remember the reaction among college ...

We've been talking over in the Facebook group about the personal/professional boundary. The need for more granular permissions has come up again and again.
Tinu Abayomi-Paul suggested that we organize an official petition to Facebook asking for more granular permissions, and I thought that this might be an excellent additional ...

According to Merriam-Webster online, the word "curmudgeon" means "a crusty, ill-tempered, and usually old man."
So I guess what we're really looking for her is a few good, crusty old men. Or perhaps what we're really after are Facebook skeptics.
Facebook is a great platform, but we all know that it's not ...

Connie Bensen has posted a great walk-through of setting up your Facebook and engaging with Facebook groups. One of her observations about friending people struck me as an emerging best practice:
And if you invite someone to be your friend, just put a note in on how you connected.
I've been getting ...

The mullahs in Iran fear that students might use Facebook to organize a democratic revolution. That's why they've banned the use of this powerful tool at all the country's universities.
Apparently, the ban isn't working. There's now a Facebook group protesting Internet censorship in Iran. One woman who uses a ...

It's funny that Teresa decided to say that Scoble "uses his Facebook as a hub for all of his content," because I dropped this post title into the bottomless bin of post drafts yesterday morning having every intention of probably never writing it.
But I can't sit idly by while ...

There's been some speculation since we canceled the September Blog Business Summit that we've abandoned the blogging and blogging for business spaces outright. I understand why it would be easy to think that. We've made a pretty dramatic transition. In just a few days, we pulled the plug on our ...

One major gripe about Facebook is that groups are easy to join, but they don't really stay at the forefront of your attention stream. I think this is because originally, students didn't use the groups as major community building tools. Instead, they were about private jokes and campaigns for class ...

I decided to put together a video demonstrating how business people can use Facebook for networking. Here's a couple of neat features that come in handy:
What did I miss? I'm sure I missed something. What are your favorite ways to use Facebook as a business tool?
Update: I posted a video ...

Facebook became all the rage during my senior year at Pomona College. All of a sudden, you were some kind of a rebel if you weren't on it.
At that point, I was kind of a Mac purist. If something rendered strangely in Safari, I didn't think it was worth using. ...
